Gateway Acceptance Company was founded by Vern Curtis in 1978. The company continues to be owned and operated by Vern’s children.
Vern had worked in the banking industry for many years and established asset-based lending divisions for a number of banks on the west coast. As time passed by, Vern’s bank was approving fewer and fewer of his deals. Understanding the impact that asset-based lending has on the long-term success of small businesses, it became difficult for him to provide this banking service to the market. At this point, Mr. Curtis decided to leave banking and open Gateway Acceptance Company.
Gateway gave him the opportunity to identify and approve the companies whom he knew would benefit most from his services. He was confident in the success of his product and wanted to give back to his community by helping small business owners succeed in their business ventures. This same philosophy of community and integrity continues today in Gateway Acceptance Company.
